Shipping Questions:

Q: How soon will my order ship?

A: We typically ship orders within 2-3 business days of the order being placed. However, sometimes weekends and holidays will delay that shipping speed. Once your order ships, you will receive an email with the tracking information so you can track your package.


Q: How much will I be charged for shipping?

A: At FiltersAmerica, we charge a flat rate shipping fee of $9.95 for orders that are shipping within the contiguous US. If your order is shipping outside of the US, then you will be charged $34.95. Also, if your order is shipping outside of the contiguous US and the $34.95 is not enough to cover the shipping costs, we will email you with the additional freight costs before we ship the order. Once you approve the additional shipping fees, then we will release your order for shipment.


Q: How do you ship orders?

A: We ship using Fedex Ground, Fedex Home and Fedex Smartpost. If your order fits within the requirements of Fedex Smartpost (weight and dimensions) then we will ship your order via Fedex Smartpost, which means your package will be delivered to your home by your local USPS driver. All other packages will be delivered via Fedex Ground or Fedex Home.

Q: Do you charge Sales Tax?

A; We do charge sales tax. It will be based on the shipping address. If you live in a state where we charge sales tax, then you will be presented with the sales tax amount at the time of checkout.


Q: I think I've ordered the wrong size. What do I do?

A: If you've ordered the wrong size and need to return your order, please visit our Contact Us page and select the option "I need to return / exchange product". This will give you the steps for returning your item. Please note, if you've received an item that you didn't order, do not return your product. Please call us at 847-669-3175 or email us at and we'll look into the issue. Our office hours are Monday - Friday, 8am - 6pm EST.


Q: The tracking information says my order has been delivered, but I never received it. What do I do?

A: If you've been following your package via the tracking information we provided and it states your order was delivered, but you never received it, please call us at 847-669-3175 or email us at as soon as possible. We need to receive your communication of the lost package within 7 days of the stated delivery so we can follow our internal procedures of locating the package. If we do not receive your communication of the lost package within the 7 day timeframe, then we will not be able to assis you in locating the lost package.


General Product Questions:

Q: Can you explain what the difference is between an OEM filter and an Aftermarket filter?

A; Yes, OEM stands for original equipment manufacturer. This means the OEM filters is the brand name filter made by the manufacturer. An aftermarket filter is a compatible filter manufactured by someone else. Generally, aftermarket filters are built to the same specifications as the OEM filter and operate just as effectively and efficiently.


Q: What does MERV mean?

A: MERV stands for minimum efficiecny reporting value. Basically, the higher the MERV rating, the smaller the particle the filter captures.


Q: Why are there two sizes on HVAC filters?

A: Ther are usually two sizes listed on HVAC filters. These are the Actual size and the Nominal size. The actual size of the filter is the size of the filter if you would get if you measured it with a tape measure. The nominal size of the filter is the nice, whole number of the filter. For example, filter sizes are normally listed like this: 20x25x5 (19-3/4 x 24-1/2 x 4-3/8). The size "20x25x5" is the nominal size, while the size "(19-3/4 x 24-1/2 x 4-3/8)" is the actual size.
